- In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of cooled, plain mashed potatoes with 1 teaspoon of salt. Use a fork or potato masher to ensure the potatoes are smooth and free of lumps.
- Gradually add 1½ to 2 cups of all-purpose flour to the potato mixture, stirring gently until a soft dough forms.
- Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and shape it into a round about 1-inch thick. Slice it into four wedges to create potato farls.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat for about 2 minutes. Lightly grease the skillet with butter or neutral oil.
- Cook the farls in the preheated skillet for 3–4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Transfer the farls to a plate and serve warm.
