  • 1/2 cup Ketchup Use more or less depending on taste preference.

  • 1/4 cup Milk Substitution: Cream for a richer flavor.
  • 1/4 cup Mayonnaise Substitution: Greek yogurt or sour cream for lighter options.
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder Omit if preferred.
  • 1/2 tsp Onion Powder Can be left out.
For the Casserole Base
  • 32 oz Frozen French Fries Substitution: Tater tots can be used for a fun variation.
For the Topping
  • 2 cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese Substitution: American cheese for a classic taste or a blend of other cheeses for variety.
Optional Garnish
  • 1/2 cup Diced Pickles Can be skipped for simplicity.
  • 1/4 cup Fresh Parsley Garnish optional.

Equipment

  • Skillet
  • 9x13-inch baking dish

Method

Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and cook for about 6-7 minutes, breaking it apart with a spatula until it's well browned. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder, stirring occasionally until fully cooked.
  2. Drain any excess grease from the ground beef to keep the casserole from being too oily. Stir in ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise. If using, fold in diced onions and pickles to enhance the burger taste.
  3. Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. Spread the frozen French fries evenly at the bottom, creating a base. Pour the prepared ground beef mixture over the fries, spreading it evenly.
  4. Generously sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the casserole, covering the beef mixture and fries.
  5. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until the cheese melts and bubbles, and the fries are crispy.
  6. Allow cooling for about 5 minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve with extra ketchup or mustard for dipping.
