Ingredients

For the Burrata
  • 2 balls Burrata Substitution: Fresh mozzarella can be used, but the texture will differ.
  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour For gluten-free, swap in a gluten-free flour blend.
  • 2 Eggs Substitution: Use flax eggs or aquafaba for a vegan alternative.
  • 1 cup Panko Breadcrumbs Substitution: Regular breadcrumbs work too, but they will be denser.
  • 1 cup Vegetable Oil Substitution: Canola or peanut oil can also be used for frying.
For the Spicy Sauce
  • 1/2 cup Mayonnaise Substitution: Try vegan mayonnaise to keep it plant-based.
  • 2 tablespoons Sriracha Adjust to taste for your desired spice level.
  • 1 tablespoon Honey Substitution: Maple syrup or agave are great for vegan versions.
  • 1 tablespoon Lime Juice Substitution: Lemon juice can also do the trick.
  • 2 cloves Garlic Notes: Fresh garlic is best; garlic powder can be used if needed.
  • 1/4 cup Fresh Cilantro Notes: Omit or use fresh parsley as a substitute.

Equipment

  • frying pan
  • Thermometer
  • Three Bowls for Breading

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Begin by gently patting the burrata balls dry with a paper towel. This step is crucial to remove excess moisture, ensuring a crispier texture when frying.
  2. Create a three-bowl assembly line for the coating process: one for flour seasoned with salt and pepper, one for beaten eggs, and one for panko breadcrumbs.
  3. Take one burrata ball and dip it into the flour, then into the eggs, and finally roll it in the panko breadcrumbs. Repeat for the second ball.
  4. In a frying pan, pour about 1-2 inches of vegetable oil and heat it to 350°F (175°C). Wait until the oil shimmers slightly.
  5. Carefully lower the coated burrata into the hot oil and fry for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
  6. While the burrata cools, prepare the spicy sauce by mixing mayonnaise, Sriracha, honey, lime juice, and minced garlic until smooth.
  7. Drizzle the spicy sauce over the crispy fried burrata or serve it on the side for dipping. Garnish with chopped cilantro.
