Step-by-Step Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine grated onion, ground beef, breadcrumbs, salt, black pepper, heavy cream, and beaten egg. Mix gently with your hands until just combined and set aside.
- Divide the meat mixture into four equal portions and shape into patties about 1-inch thick.
- Heat olive oil and butter in a nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add patties, searing for 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Add diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for about 2 minutes until the onion is translucent.
- Sprinkle flour over the sautéed onions and garlic, stirring constantly for 1 minute. Gradually pour in chicken broth, stirring until thickened.
- Lower heat, stir in heavy cream and chopped dill. Simmer for 1-2 minutes until thick and creamy.
- Return hamburger steaks to the skillet, coating them in sauce. Simmer for 5-6 minutes to heat through.
- Transfer to a warm serving plate, drizzle extra sauce over top, and serve immediately.
