Method

Step-by-Step Instructions for Bánh Tiêu
  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 2 tablespoons of sugar, 1 packet of instant yeast, 1 teaspoon of baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt.
  2. Create a well in the center of the dry mixture and pour in 3/4 cup of unsweetened almond milk and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
  3. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead it for about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Shape the kneaded dough into a ball and place it in a greased bowl, covering it with a clean kitchen towel.
  5. After the dough has risen, punch it down gently to release the air and divide it into 6 equal pieces.
  6. In a deep pan, heat about 2 inches of neutral oil over medium heat.
  7. Carefully slide the sesame-coated discs into the hot oil, frying until they are golden brown.
  8. Once golden and puffed, remove the Bánh Tiêu from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain.
