Step-by-Step Instructions for London Broil
  1. Tenderize the steak by placing the flank steak on a cutting board and using a meat mallet to pound it gently until about 1-inch thick.
  2. In a large Ziploc bag, whisk together the marinade ingredients and reserve 2 tablespoons for later.
  3. Marinate the flank steak in the Ziploc bag, making sure it’s well coated. Refrigerate for a minimum of 4 hours.
  4. Preheat the broiler to high, about 550°F (288°C), and line a baking dish with aluminum foil.
  5. Broil the steak for 4-6 minutes on one side, flip, and broil for another 5-7 minutes until an internal temperature of 130-135°F is reached.
  6. Remove the steak from the oven and let it rest on a cutting board for 10 minutes.
  7. Slice the London Broil thinly against the grain, drizzle with reserved marinade, and top with herb butter.
