Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare a 9-inch pie plate.
- In a medium skillet, heat the avocado oil and cook the sausage until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Set aside.
- Caramelize the onion in the same skillet for 15-20 minutes until deep golden brown.
- Sauté the red and green bell peppers with the cooked onions for 4-5 minutes, then add minced garlic for 1-2 minutes.
- Cool the mixture for about 5 minutes.
- Whisk together eggs, whole milk, heavy cream, sage, salt, and black pepper in a mixing bowl.
- Fold in the cooled sausage, sautéed vegetables, and cheddar cheese until evenly mixed.
- Pour the mixture into the pie crust. Bake for 45-55 minutes until golden on top.
- Let the quiche rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
