For the Vegetables
  • 1 bunch Bok Choy Substitution: Napa cabbage, spinach, or kale can also work; adjust cooking times.
  • 3 cloves Garlic Mince finely for best flavor release.
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger Fresh is best; can substitute with ground ginger in a pinch.
For Cooking
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable Oil Substitution: Olive oil or sesame oil for flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame Oil (optional) Use sparingly as it’s potent.

Method
 

Cooking Instructions
  1. Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  2. Add 1 pound of ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula as it cooks. Sauté for about 5 minutes, or until browned.
  3. Stir in 3 minced garlic cloves and 1 tablespoon of freshly grated ginger. Cook for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Pour in 3 tablespoons of soy sauce, 2 tablespoons of oyster sauce, 1 tablespoon of brown sugar, and black pepper to taste. Stir well and cook for an additional minute.
  5. Add the chopped stems of 1 bunch of bok choy and sauté for about 1 minute until slightly tender.
  6. Toss in the bok choy leaves and stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until they wilt yet remain bright green.
  7. If using, drizzle 1 teaspoon of sesame oil over the stir-fried mixture and stir to incorporate the flavor.
  8. Serve immediately over steamed rice or noodles.
